Cate Cummings

Hello! My name is Catherine Cummings, but most everyone calls me Cate. I am a family nurse practitioner (MSN, Herzing University, 2016) licensed in the states of Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Montana. I am a chiropractor (DC, New York Chiropractic College, 1986) licensed in Texas, Colorado, and Idaho, and I am also a licensed acupuncturist (MAOM, Academy of Oriental Medicine, 2008) in the states of Texas and Idaho. I became a certified functional medicine practitioner through the Institute of Functional Medicine in 2013, a ReCODE 2.0 Certified Practitioner in 2021, and an Advanced Bioidentical Hormone Therapy provider in 2022.

BWC for Horse Lovers is my telehealth functional medicine practice (a DBA of Bluebonnet Wellness Center, PLLC) under which I am practicing SOLELY as a licensed family nurse practitioner in Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Montana. In BWC For Horse Lovers I am not practicing as a chiropractor or licensed acupuncturist.

I started riding at age 10 and that began my lifelong love of horses. I currently have two beautiful horses who were born on my ranch in Texas several years ago. Together, we are students of the Ecole de Legerete (aka The School of Lightness), a method of French Dressage. My excellent teacher of this riding method is Brenda Crist from Dickerson, Maryland ([email protected]). Now I am in my 60’s. I hope to keep riding for a very long time to come. To help make that a reality I work on my health every day through personalized functional medicine principles that I have found to be highly effective over the years. I would love to help other horse people optimize their health so that they too can enjoy their horses (or whatever else they would like to do) longer and more fully.

I know that health is a dynamic journey over time and not a final destination. We will encounter many challenges throughout our lives which impact the quality of our health.  Believe me -I have been through a bunch of health challenges myself! I am very grateful that I am still here to help empower others to find their way through their unique health challenges, and where appropriate, to optimize their health in ways they may not have thought possible.

I believe it is wonderful when you can work with a health care provider who understands where you are coming from, what you absolutely want to do with your time here on Earth, and who will work conscientiously and devotedly to help guide and empower you to reach your health goals. I love to help people reach their health goals and then I love to help them maintain their health and wellness goals over time. That is how we can keep having fun with our horses, because we feel so good ourselves. :)

If you are a horse lover and would like to work with a health care provider trained in a highly personalized functional medicine approach to health optimization, a provider who understands your love of horses, and who knows how hard you work with and for your horses, then you may be interested in finding out how I can help you realize your personal health goals so that you can be the happiest, healthiest horse person possible! :) By helping keep horse lovers in excellent health, my sincere hope is that this will keep horses and the people who love them together. And, if you are not a horse lover and still want to work with me, I am also sincerely very happy to help you.

Another part of my work is to help people with cognitive decline. My own mother died of Alzheimer's before there was a good understanding of how to prevent and reverse cognitive decline. I was fortunate to become certified as a ReCODE 2.0 Practitioner and love helping people improve their cognitive health. I follow the teachings of Dr. Dale Bredesen and Apollo Health.

I also love to help adults optimize their hormones and their nutritional status so that they can experience wellness.
